Open day for memorial project
WEEDON War Memorial Project hosted an open day on Saturday and Graham Bandy was there to identify all the military photographs and memorabilia brought in by the hundreds of visitors.
Photographs and documentation from the war were view between 10.30am and 3.30pm in the village hall and anyone with military memorabilia was encouraged to bring it along for identification by historian Captain G Bandy.
The children of Weedon Primary School read the names of the 90 men from the village who died in the war and there was a display of great war medical artifacts.
The Rifles Living History Society were at the hall as well as a display of WW artefacts including deactivated weaponry. Weedon History Society also displayed items from their collection.
Before the event, organiser Jenny Copeland said: “It should be a really good day. There will be something for everyone.”
